Overview
CIDEZYME BIOCLEAN™ is an enzymatic detergent formulated to address biofilm removal during manual cleaning of flexible endoscopes and medical devices. Manual cleaning is the essential first step in reprocessing because biofilm within internal channels can shield microorganisms from subsequent high-level disinfection or sterilisation. When used according to the Instructions for Use (IFU), CIDEZYME BIOCLEAN™ supports physical removal of biofilm from channels and surfaces.
Key Product Highlights
First ASP detergent with evidence aligned to ISO 15883-5 cleaning acceptance criteria
Specifically formulated to remove biofilm from flexible endoscope lumens
Defined cleaning parameters (time, temperature, mechanical action) for reproducible results when used per IFU
Supports effective manual cleaning as the basis for high-level disinfection and sterilisation
What Makes CIDEZYME BIOCLEAN™ Different
ISO-Aligned Biofilm Removal
CIDEZYME BIOCLEAN™ targets a critical risk in endoscope reprocessing by delivering demonstrable biofilm disruption and removal beyond surface cleaning.
Aligned with ISO 15883-5 cleaning acceptance criteria
Evidence of effective biofilm disruption and extraction from internal channels
Defined & Reproducible Cleaning Process
The product is designed to move manual cleaning from assumption to a controlled, repeatable procedure.
Operates with defined parameters: time, temperature and mechanical flow
Enables standardization across users and facilities to reduce variability
Efficient & Practical Use Conditions

Frequently Asked Questions (selected)
Why is biofilm found in endoscopes, and why is it a concern during reprocessing?
Biofilm forms within complex internal channels that are difficult to access and fully clean. It increases microbial resistance to high-level disinfection and raises the risk of patient-to-patient transmission.
What is the mechanism of action of CIDEZYME BIOCLEAN™?
The formulation combines a targeted enzyme with surfactants to disrupt the extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) matrix of biofilms. Under defined conditions (≥1000 mL/min flow, 30°C, 5-minute flush), chemical and mechanical action enable effective removal meeting ISO 15883-5:2021 criteria.
Does the mild pH affect material compatibility?
No. Mild pH detergents are generally compatible with endoscope materials. CIDEZYME BIOCLEAN™ has shown excellent material compatibility and corrosion inhibition, outperforming some neutral pH competitors.
Can CIDEZYME BIOCLEAN™ be used with existing flushing aid devices?
Yes, provided the device delivers the minimum required flow (1000 mL/min) and does not require authentication for a specific detergent.
How does CIDEZYME BIOCLEAN™ achieve better cleaning than multi-enzymatic detergents?
Superior results are achieved through the synergy of formulated chemistry and defined mechanical parameters rather than enzyme count alone.
Why are two contact times specified?
A 3-minute soak removes external organic soils; a subsequent 5-minute flushing step targets biofilm within channels under defined flow and temperature conditions.

Used in cleaning and maintenance of surfaces and coatings of all kinds of surgical instruments, preventing the corrosion of flexible parts of endoscopes and surgical instruments, maintenance and lubricating of exhauster heads.
Application Procedure
Use in Surgical Hand Instruments
CLENESAFE® LUBE SPRAY is sprayed from a certain distance without the extension hose of the sprayer on the surgical instruments which are cleaned, disinfected, ready for sterilisation and spread on a flat surface. Use extension hose, especially for loose parts. After making sure that the spraying is done well, the loose parts are functionally tested and the product is deeply penetrated. Then sterilisation process is started.
Use in Endoscopes and Exhauster Heads
When used for endoscopes and exhauster heads it is sprayed sufficiently directly to the toothed parts and loose parts by attaching the aerosol extension hose to the tip of the spray head. The function test is done and the use of the tools is continued after it is fully lubricated.

Endozime® Bio-Clean by Ruhof Corp. is presented as a liquid liquid detergent for for endoscopes. Use should follow the manufacturer's current instructions for use, compatibility guidance and local reprocessing procedures.
Source Product Description
The following product information is based on the supplied source page and should be checked against the manufacturer's latest instructions for use and technical documentation.
ENDOZIME® BIO-CLEAN is a unique neutral pH multi-tiered enzymatic detergent designed to target insoluble polysaccharides allowing for the complete elimination of all Bioburden and Biofilm on semi-critical and critical medical devices by high-level disinfectants or liquid chemical sterilants. ENDOZIME® BIO-CLEAN is the only enzymatic detergent on the market clinically tested to pass ISO 15883 Annex F*.
It accomplishes this difficult ISO standard by dissolving the extracellular polymeric layer encasing the bacteria in Biofilm and exposing them to high-level disinfectants or liquid chemical sterilants.Biofilm is formed by antimicrobial-resistant organisms that adhere to any surface. Biofilm build-up creates a slime layer which anchors itself to a surface and provides a protective barrier for microorganisms to grow under. Residual Biofilm left on an instrument or scope is impervious to high-level disinfectants and can lead to infection of patients. ENDOZIME® BIO-CLEAN is highly recommended for all scopes and cannulated instruments where Biofilm build-up can develop as a result of constant exposure to wet and dry phases during usage and reprocessing. Perfect for manual reprocessing, ENDOZIME® BIO-CLEAN is also extremely effective for use in all endoscope washers, washer disinfectors, and ultrasonics where Biofilm can build-up on washer walls.
Description
Solubilizes polysaccharides during the cleaning process allowing for high-level disinfectants to kill and remove Biofilm.
Proprietary blend of enzymes designed to remove all bioburden - blood, carbohydrates, protein, polysaccharides, fats, oils, uric acid and other nitrogenous compounds
