The 1M4 microfilament functions as a neurological diagnostic instrument, specifically designed for detecting nerve damage. It is commonly employed in the diagnostic assessment of conditions like diabetic foot, providing a means to assess and evaluate neurological functions.
For this purpose, the elastic plastic filament of the instrument is pressed vertically with significant force onto the sole of the patient's foot until the filament bends straight. If the patient feels nothing, there is a suspected neuropathy. After use, the filament can be retracted into the handle, protecting the plastic thread inside.

The Rydel-Seiffer tuning fork can be used to diagnose polyneuropathy damage, as well as to detect hearing damage. The calibrated tuning fork vibrates at a frequency of 64 Hz (with dampers) or 128 Hz (without dampers). The dampers and the base of the tuning fork can be removed.
When used in neurology, the tuning fork is used to examine the patient's vibration sensation (pallaesthesia). This allows a diagnosis to be made about the patient's depth sensitivity, which is reduced in polyneuropathies. Younger people should be able to perceive minimal vibrations (scale value 8 out of 8). People with increasing age often show a slightly reduced vibration sensation (scale value 6 of 8). If the values are below six, this indicates the presence of a polyneuropathy.
In ENT medicine, the Rydel-Seiffer medical tuning fork is used in addition to a hearing test. The tuning fork can be used to easily detect hearing damage on one side (Weber test) and to differentiate between middle ear and inner ear hearing loss (Rinne test).

The Tromner reflex hammer traditionally features a double functional head with one large and one small end (their use depends on the width of the tested tendon). Thanks to its rounded handle, the Tromner reflex hammer fits particularly well in the hand.
With a weight of 200 gr, this hammer is a heavy version, additionally equipped with a brush and pin. It is made of German medical steel and measures 27 cm. In order to diagnose a condition, the Wartenberg pinwheel is slowly rolled over the affected skin areas and the patient is to describe the sensation. Therefore, the pressure and pain stimuli can be graded in terms of severity.
