Chester Chest™ has been an industry standard since it was developed by VATA in 1986 for the teaching of central line care. The right chest area of the Chester Chest™ model has a 9.6Fr tunneled central catheter that is visible up to the clavicle. The Dacron cuff on this catheter is also discernable. The external jugular vein is slightly raised with an opening to attach a triple lumen catheter. There is also an opening in the upper chest area for placement of a subclavian catheter.

Simulate accessing the following IVAD placements in this medical simulation model: “normal”, “tipping”, “wandering” or deeply placed in the left chest area. Successful access is confirmed by a “blood” return. Fluid can be infused and “blood” withdrawn from all the lines.

Chester Chest’s™ Port Access Arm has a dual 5Fr PICC exiting the basilic vein from the inner bicep area and a pre-positioned 20g IV catheter in the forearm.  And proximal to the PICC insertion site is recessed area for the placement of an optional peripheral IVAD (optional port shown but not included - see part 0417 to order).  The base of this recessed area for the optional peripheral IVAD is made of a soft material that permits the IVAD to “float” when palpated and accessed.

Chester Chest™ is a great tool for teaching, competency testing, skills assessment, fluid infusion, “blood” withdrawal and dressing securement techniques associated with central access devices.

This manikin simulates a one-year old infant with rotatable arms and legs (jointed elbows and knees) and articulating head. It allows training of basic and advanced pediatric patient care procedures such as:

The Seymour II™ Wound Care Simulator has been redesigned and now made with a new flexible, life-like material that permits the application and easy removal of dressings, without leaving an adhesive residue. Still the most comprehensive model of its kind, molded from a 74-year-old patient, looks and feels like the real thing.

Displaying the following pressure injuries* (NPUAP 2007 - National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel): Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 with undermining, tunneling, subcutaneous fat and slough, deep Stage 4 with exposed bones, undermining, tunneling, subcutaneous fat, eschar and slough. Also shown are a suspected DTI (Deep Tissue Injury), unstageable full eschar/slough wound, and a dehisced wound. The Stage 3 and Stage 4 are positioned so that a “bridging” dressing for use with a vacuum assisted closure and negative pressure wound therapy devices can be demonstrated and practiced.

This model makes it possible to visualize and understand the differences in wounds. Great care has been taken to color each wound just as you would see it on a patient. You are able to demonstrate and practice wound cleansing, classification, staging, and assessment, as well as the measurement of wound length, depth, undermining, and tunneling. The positioning of the wounds permits multiple dressings to be demonstrated at the same time.

The Life/form® Blood Pressure Simulator teaches physical assessment and helps resolve the uncertainties common in teaching students to take blood pressure. This lifelike simulator allows the presetting of values for both systolic and diastolic pressures. Provides an excellent means to practice listening to and distinguishing blood pressure sounds prior to actual clinical experience. It is possible to audibly discern the five Korotkoff phases. Many times when working with a live patient, pressures are difficult to auscultate, making accurate evaluation of student proficiency almost impossible, and undermining the student’s self-confidence. With this realistic unit, the student can find the preset results and the instructor can unfailingly know if the student has performed the procedure accurately. The electronically generated sounds are digitally recorded.
