Vertical birth is a method of childbirth that differs from traditional birthing in the woman's body position. During both contractions and pushing, the woman in labor can assume the most comfortable position, minimizing pain and making pushing more productive.
This method is a forgotten legacy. Three centuries ago, women didn't even know about the classic horizontal position on a birthing chair. However, the prone position during childbirth is less physiological, more painful, and more challenging for the mother.

Therefore, in recent years, more and more specialists in Russia have been mastering the vertical birth method to ensure the most gentle and physiological delivery possible, aimed at ensuring the safety, comfort, and unity of mother and baby. According to statistics, more than 20% of women choose vertical birth.
Advantages of the vertical birth method
- Reducing the duration of labor by shortening the first stage
- Minimal intervention of medical personnel in the birth process
- Reducing the risk of birth injury (for both mother and baby)
- Minimal blood loss
- Reducing the risk of fetal hypoxia
- Contact between mother and child during childbirth.
Babies born vertically have higher Apgar scores and gain weight faster after birth. Furthermore, they have a lower incidence of neurological syndromes. Studies of psychomotor development have shown that precocious babies accounted for 31% of the vertical group and 8% of those born horizontally.
The Demeter vertical birthing complex consists of:
- Specially shaped chairs for comfortable placement of the mother in labor and her partner (husband)
- A strong frame with a special rope for support
- A mat made of special material for the convenience of the midwife
- A special chair with a hole that allows the midwife to assist the woman in labor and monitor the progress of the labor process
The Demetra complex has a Registration Certificate from the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation (No. RZN 2022/16935 dated June 3, 2022).
