About Alcohol and Quat Disinfecting Wipes
PDI Super Sani-Cloth Plus Wipes are made with Isopropyl Alcohol B.P 70% v/v, Alkyl Dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride 0.25%, and Alkyl Dimethyl Ethyl benzyl ammonium chloride 0.25%. This robust formula provides a much broader kill spectrum without slowing down your cleaning process.
Quaternary ammonium offers bactericidal, virucidal (enveloped viruses), and fungicidal effects that work by denaturing cell proteins, compromising cell membranes, and inactivating enzymes to kill cells. However, while Quat is a powerful disinfectant, it is ineffective against non-enveloped viruses and TB and also has a longer contact time (usually around 10 minutes)
Adding alcohol significantly speeds up contact time and enables the killing of TB and non-enveloped viruses like SARS-CoV-1, herpes viruses, HIV, hepatitis B virus, levelling the disinfectant up from a low-level formula to an intermediate one.
